How to Replace a String Trimmer Fuel Filter
The small fuel filter inside your trimmer's gas tank can clog and cause starting issues. Here's how to replace it.

Empty the fuel tank or work over a drain pan. Disconnect the spark plug wire.
Remove the fuel cap and look inside the tank. You'll see a fuel line with a small cylindrical filter on the end, sitting in the fuel.
Use a bent piece of wire (coat hanger works) or hemostats to hook the fuel line and carefully pull the filter out through the fuel cap opening.
Pull the old filter off the fuel line. Note which direction it was installed.
Push the new filter onto the fuel line. It should fit snugly. Push it on at least 1/4 inch.
Drop the filter back into the tank. It should sit at the bottom so it stays submerged in fuel at all angles.
Refill with fresh fuel mix, prime the bulb, and test.
